Governor Idris Makes New Appointment In Kebbi

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has approved the appointment of former Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Alhaji Jafar Jega, as Amirul Hajj for the 2026 pilgrimage.

The development was disclosed in an official statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala Tafida, and made available to journalists on Friday, April 17, 2026. According to credible reports, the appointee will lead a 19-member delegation constituted by the state government to supervise and coordinate all Hajj-related activities.

The delegation is expected to ensure seamless planning and execution of the pilgrimage, with a strong focus on the welfare of pilgrims from the state. It is also mandated to maintain close collaboration with relevant authorities and agencies throughout the exercise to guarantee efficiency and smooth operations.

Further information indicates that the committee will oversee compliance with established agreements involving the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, and designated airline operators. In addition, the team will monitor the overall conduct of the pilgrimage and provide recommendations to the government aimed at improving future Hajj exercises.

Members of the delegation include prominent figures such as Bala Ibn Na’Allah, Commissioner of Police Umar Muhammad Hadejia, Abubakar Muhammad Kana, Babale Umar Yauri, Hon. Garba Muhammad Bena, Hon. Sulaiman Fana, and Aliyu Bello Muh’ud, among others.

Governor Idris noted that the composition of the committee reflects his administration’s determination to deliver a well-organised and hitch-free Hajj operation. He added that the inclusion of seasoned administrators, religious leaders, and key stakeholders is intended to enhance coordination, efficiency, and service delivery for pilgrims.
