According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has opened up about the emotional challenges he faced after rising to fame at a young age, suggesting that his early success in the music industry came with hidden personal struggles.

The Afrobeats star made the revelations through the lyrics of his latest track Moviestar, a collaboration with French pianist Sofiane Pamart, where he reflected on the pressures and experiences that shaped his early career.

Rema, who gained widespread recognition after signing with Mavin Records and releasing his debut EP in 2019 at just 19 years old, indicated that much of what he went through is misunderstood by the public, who often overlook how young he was when thrust into the spotlight.

He admitted that he “got caught up so young,” describing the phase as one filled with emotional difficulty and confusion as he adjusted to sudden fame and industry demands.

In the song, the 25-year-old also made striking claims about his experiences during his rise, alleging exposure to drugs through some women and describing how certain relationships affected his mental state, with lyrics referencing emotional dependence and feelings of being taken advantage of.
