According to Ireporter Online, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, has described his endorsement by the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Lagos election as both humbling and historic.

The GAC had earlier endorsed Hamzat as its consensus candidate during a meeting held at Lagos House, Marina, on Tuesday, further strengthening his position ahead of the forthcoming election cycle.

Reacting in a post shared on his Facebook page, Hamzat expressed gratitude to the council, noting that he does not take the endorsement for granted. He particularly appreciated the Chairman of the GAC, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, alongside other members of the council for their confidence and trust in his leadership.

He further stated that he has accepted the responsibility with a deep sense of humility, adding that his focus remains on delivering good and accountable governance to the people of Lagos State.

Receiving this endorsement from the apex leaders of our dear party is indeed humbling and historic, one I do not take for granted. I am grateful to the Chairman, Alhaji Prince Tajudeen Olusi, and to the members of the Council for their trust and confidence in me. It is a responsibility I accept with all sense of humility, and I will continue to stay focused on what truly matters to our people, which is good and accountable governance.
