According to Ireporter Online, Afrobeats superstar Davido has announced a temporary suspension of his music career for two months to actively participate in the re-election campaign of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The Grammy-nominated artiste made the declaration on Tuesday in Ede, Osun State, during the inauguration of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team, where he emphasized that his decision was driven by the need to strengthen grassroots support for the governor’s second-term ambition.

Davido, who chairs the mobilisation committee, stated that he was dedicating his time and influence to ensure electoral success, noting that Governor Adeleke still had more to achieve in office.

He said, “I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle, not only because he is my uncle but because he is doing a good job and still has more to accomplish. The job is not done.”

The singer further urged members of the committee to intensify grassroots outreach across all local government areas in Osun State, encouraging door-to-door campaigns to highlight the governor’s achievements and future plans.

He added, “Let us carry out door-to-door mobilisation across all local governments, showcasing what the governor has achieved and what he intends to do. Engage people within your communities and communicate the governor’s programmes effectively.”

The mobilisation committee includes David Adeleke as Chairman, Adeshina Kayode Olododo as Vice Chairman, Gbenga Idowu as Secretary, alongside representatives from various federal constituencies across Osun State.
