Peter Obi May Return To ADC If Atiku Exits Presidential Race – Reps Member Claims

According to Ireporter Online, a member of the House of Representatives, Ifeanyi Uzokwe, has explained the reasons behind his exit, alongside some colleagues, from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

Uzokwe, during an interview on Channels Television, said the decision was driven by internal disagreements over the leadership structure of a political coalition associated with the ADC. He alleged that there were claims within the group that the coalition was established at the residence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and that it was being run as a personal political structure where dissenting voices were not accommodated.

He further disclosed that members of the coalition had engaged Atiku in discussions, urging him to step aside to allow for a more transparent and competitive primary process that would enable other prominent figures, including Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi, to contest.

Uzokwe maintained that should Atiku agree to withdraw and support a southern candidacy, figures like Peter Obi could rejoin the party almost immediately, describing it as a move capable of reshaping the political landscape ahead of future elections.

He was quoted as saying that Atiku’s resignation from the race and acceptance of a southern candidate would likely trigger the return of Peter Obi to the party without delay.
