Fubara Gets Green Light For APC Governorship Primary In Rivers

According to Ireporter Online, Fubara was screened and successfully cleared by the party’s screening committee during an exercise held at the Plateau Governors’ Lodge on Saturday.

The Rivers governor was among 17 serving governors whose credentials were examined and approved by the committee in preparation for the party primaries.

The development comes amid heightened political speculation in Rivers State, following recent remarks by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who stated that he has not endorsed any aspirant for the 2027 governorship election.

Speaking during his monthly media briefing in Abuja, Wike said any decision regarding endorsement would only be taken after consultations with the state-level joint coalition.

Despite his public denial, reports have continued to link the former Rivers governor with possible support for Alabo Dakorinama George-Kelly, a former Commissioner for Works in the state, following a private meeting with political stakeholders in Port Harcourt earlier in the week.

Political observers believe the APC governorship primary will serve as a major test of influence among competing power blocs in Rivers State as the race toward the 2027 governorship election gathers momentum.
