My Daughter Stopped Listening To Me After Fame” — Ilebaye’s Father Speaks Out
According to Ireporter Online, Hon. Godson Odiniya, father of Big Brother Naija Season 8 winner Ilebaye Odiniya, has opened up on the growing tension between him and his daughter, describing how their relationship reportedly changed after she rose to fame.
In an alleged voice note attributed to him, Odiniya claimed that Ilebaye became less receptive to advice after winning the reality show and began associating with a different circle of friends. He said he had encouraged her to publicly appreciate those who supported her during the show, but she declined, adding that some of their earlier supporters also became less engaged afterward.
He further alleged that efforts to guide her on financial management and lifestyle choices were often ignored. “Each time I talk to her she will insult me,” he said, explaining that this made communication increasingly difficult.
Odiniya also raised concerns about what he described as her decision to undergo cosmetic procedures at a young age, stating that he had advised against body enhancement and other lifestyle changes. He added that their disagreements intensified because she felt he was overly critical.
The father also recounted an incident he described as a physical altercation during a heated argument, claiming that attempts to counsel her led to a confrontation that left him with injuries. He said the situation escalated while he was trying to correct her behaviour.
He further alleged that he had encouraged her to channel her earnings into meaningful investments that could benefit others, but said she preferred a more extravagant spending style. According to him, repeated advice on establishing sustainable ventures was not taken seriously.
Odiniya also accused her of negatively influencing her younger brother, claiming it had an impact on the boy’s behaviour and academic performance, despite earlier warnings he said were ignored.
He appealed to the public for understanding and prayers, expressing hope that the family could find peace and that his daughter would eventually embrace positive change.
