According to Ireporter Online, the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) relegation battle took a dramatic twist on matchday 37 as Bayelsa United and Wikki Tourists were officially relegated, while uncertainty still surrounds several clubs heading into a tense final day of the season.

At the Remo Stars Stadium, Remo Stars secured a 2-1 victory over Bayelsa United but were still unable to guarantee safety. Ofem Nneoyi opened the scoring in the fifth minute before Alex Oyowah restored parity just before halftime, while Victor Mbaoma struck after the hour mark to complete the comeback. Despite the win, Remo Stars must now defeat Bendel Insurance away from home and rely on other results to survive.

Enyimba also suffered a setback in their survival push after falling 2-0 to Kwara United, with Babatunde Bright scoring twice in the fourth and 29th minutes. The Aba giants sit 15th on the table, level on points with Remo Stars and Warri Wolves, leaving multiple teams still battling relegation.

Kun Khalifat boosted their survival hopes with a 2-0 win over Abia Warriors, courtesy of a brace from Uchechukwu Onuoha. They now prepare to face already-relegated Wikki Tourists on the final day, after Wikki’s drop was confirmed following a 3-2 defeat to Rivers United.

Elsewhere, Kano Pillars edged Warri Wolves 1-0 through a late penalty from Rabiu Ali, while Nasarawa United secured a 1-0 win over Plateau United. With just one match remaining, up to ten teams remain mathematically threatened by relegation.

At the top of the table, Rivers United kept their title hopes alive with a 3-2 comeback win over Wikki Tourists in Bauchi, staying within reach of leaders Enugu Rangers. Rangers also maintained their lead after a 2-1 victory over Bendel Insurance, with Godwin Obaje scoring a brace, including a decisive penalty.

Rangers top the table with 65 points, just one ahead of Rivers United, setting up a thrilling final-day title decider. Rivers United will host Katsina United in Port Harcourt, while Rangers travel to Lagos to face Ikorodu City, who are still chasing continental qualification despite a heavy 4-1 defeat to Katsina United.

Shooting Stars also strengthened their continental ambitions with a narrow 1-0 win over Barau FC. All final-day fixtures are expected to be played simultaneously as the NPFL season reaches a tense conclusion across the title race, continental slots, and relegation battle.
