2027: “APC Has Mechanism To Soften Political Heartbreaks” – Farouk Aliyu
According to Ireporter Online, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Farouk Aliyu, has stated that the party has established internal mechanisms to manage grievances that may emerge from its candidate selection process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Aliyu made this known during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, where he acknowledged that some aspirants are likely to be disappointed following the party’s primaries and consensus arrangements.
He, however, urged members of the party to remain loyal and supportive of the APC regardless of the outcome of the selection process. According to him, the party leadership will engage aggrieved aspirants through dialogue, reassurances, and possible compensatory appointments in order to maintain unity.
Aliyu explained that the APC would continue to adopt consensus-building where possible, while direct primaries would be conducted in situations where agreement cannot be reached among stakeholders.
He noted that political outcomes are often fluid and unpredictable, adding that even elected governors may face limitations due to the influence of other key stakeholders within the party structure.
He said the party is fully prepared for internal challenges that may arise from the process, stressing that efforts would be made to “mend broken hearts” through communication, promises, and appointments where necessary.
According to him, “Of course, there will be broken hearts. If you don’t get it, you probably get heartbroken. But if you are a true party man, you go along with the party’s decision. Where consensus is not possible, we go for direct primaries. We are prepared, and where hearts are broken, we will try to mend them with good words, promises, and appointments. The party has a mechanism to appease those affected.”
