According to Ireporter Online, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released a revised timetable for its primary elections ahead of the 2027 general polls, with key adjustments to earlier announced dates.

The updated schedule was disclosed on Wednesday in a joint statement signed by the party’s National Organizing Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, and the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi. The party explained that the changes were made following requests from aspirants and to address logistical considerations in the electoral process.

Under the new arrangement, the deadline for the submission of nomination forms has been extended to May 14, 2026, replacing the earlier date of May 13. The screening of aspirants, which was initially slated for May 14 to 15, will now take place on May 16 to 17, 2026. The party, however, maintained that all other previously announced dates in the timetable remain unchanged.

Meanwhile, tensions have emerged within the party as the forum of state chairmen of the ADC issued a warning against aspirants purchasing nomination and expression of interest forms from a faction reportedly led by Senator David Mark. The group cautioned that such aspirants risk disqualification from the 2027 electoral contest.

In a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the state chairmen-led National Executive Committee (NEC) forum, Norman Obinna, the faction argued that the sale of forms by the Mark-led group contravenes a Federal High Court order issued in Abuja. The statement referenced Suit No. FHC/ABJ/581/2026, where Justice J.O. Abdulmalik reportedly gave a ruling on April 29, 2026, which the group claims invalidates the faction’s actions.
