Saudi Arabia Sets Official Date For Eid Al-Adha

According to official reports, the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia confirmed that Monday, May 18, 2026, will mark the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah, the twelfth and final month of the Islamic calendar.

The court further announced that pilgrims participating in the annual Hajj pilgrimage will observe the Day of Arafat on Tuesday, May 26, corresponding to the ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah. Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant festivals in Islam, will commence the following day.

The Day of Arafat represents the spiritual climax of Hajj, as millions of Muslims from around the world gather at Mount Arafat near the holy city of Mecca for prayers, reflection and supplication.

Eid al-Adha commemorates the unwavering obedience of Prophet Ibrahim, who, according to Islamic tradition, was prepared to sacrifice his son in submission to God’s command before a ram was provided in his place.

Hajj, regarded as the fifth pillar of Islam, is a religious obligation that every Muslim is expected to undertake at least once in a lifetime, provided they are physically and financially capable.
