Anthony Joshua Eyes World Title Comeback, Sets Sights On Tyson Fury Clash In 2026
According to Ireporter Online, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has stated that Anthony Joshua is fully focused on reclaiming the world heavyweight title and setting up a high-profile showdown with Tyson Fury in 2026.
Hearn revealed that Joshua is rebuilding his career following a difficult period that included a loss to Daniel Dubois and a serious car accident in Nigeria. He noted that the former two-time heavyweight champion has returned to training with renewed determination, describing his current mindset as highly focused and disciplined.
Naija News reports that Joshua is scheduled to face Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on July 25, before potentially moving on to a long-awaited clash with Tyson Fury later in the year.
Speaking on Joshua’s ambitions, Hearn said the boxer’s ultimate goal remains a return to world championship glory. He explained that Joshua is aware of the demanding path ahead, which begins with his upcoming fight before any major mega-bout can be confirmed.
Hearn added that both the Fury fight and a world title win are central to Joshua’s plans, stressing that success in his immediate bouts is essential before any bigger opportunities can materialize. He emphasized that Joshua must first overcome Prenga and then Fury to position himself for another shot at any championship he desires.
The promoter further noted that Joshua’s training camp has shown positive signs, highlighting his intensity in sparring sessions and overall commitment. However, he cautioned that real assessment would only come under fight-night pressure.
While acknowledging expectations that Joshua will comfortably defeat Prenga, Hearn said the fight carries significant pressure due to what is at stake and the challenges Joshua has recently faced. He described the upcoming bout as potentially emotional, given the circumstances surrounding the fighter’s comeback.
