El-Rufai Gets ₦100 Million Bail From Court
The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the sum of ₦100 million, with one surety in like amount, under strict conditions set by the court.
According to Ireporter Online, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik delivered the ruling on Monday, stating that the surety must reside within Maitama or Asokoro districts of Abuja and is required to deposit the original Certificate of Occupancy of a landed property at the court registry as part of the bail conditions.
The court further ruled that the surety must be a serving federal civil servant not below Grade Level 17 and must present evidence of salary payments covering at least three months, along with verification from a bank manager within the court’s jurisdiction.
Justice Abdulmalik also directed that the surety must submit an affidavit of means, enter into a bail bond, and provide a recent passport photograph for documentation.
In addition, El-Rufai is required to deposit all valid international passports with the court and present a tax clearance certificate covering the last six months, alongside a verification letter from the surety’s immediate department.
The court ordered that the former governor must report to the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters on the last Friday of every month by 10 a.m. to sign an attendance register pending the conclusion of the case, warning that any breach of the conditions would lead to an automatic revocation of bail.
Justice Abdulmalik also directed that a letter of attestation from the Chairman of the Kaduna Traditional Council be submitted as part of the bail requirements.
