NDC Shuts Presidential Form Sales, Gives Fresh Deadline To Other Aspirants
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the closure of the sale of Expression of Interest Forms for aspirants seeking to contest the 2027 presidential election under the party’s platform.
According to a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by the National Secretary of the party, Ikenna Enekweizu, the party disclosed that while presidential form sales have officially ended, the deadline for the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for other elective positions—including State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship seats—has been extended from May 17 to May 24, 2026.
The statement further noted that screening of all aspirants who have purchased and completed their forms will commence on Tuesday and conclude on May 26, after which successful candidates will proceed to the next stage of the process. It added that the collection and return of Nomination Forms for only screened and cleared aspirants will begin on Wednesday and close on May 26, with no further extension expected.
The party emphasized that all aspirants must strictly adhere to the approved timetable, warning that no additional deadline extension would be granted. It also directed all participants to appear for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated venues nationwide, with required documents including academic certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, passport photographs, voter’s card, NDC membership card, and curriculum vitae, submitted in six copies.
The NDC explained that its screening process would be guided by electoral considerations, local dynamics, as well as the competence, capacity, and character of aspirants, while also factoring in affirmative action policies for women, youths, and persons with disabilities. It further encouraged aspirants to embrace consensus-building in order to promote unity and reduce internal party tensions ahead of the elections, stressing that only those cleared after screening would be eligible to purchase nomination forms.
