Nigerian music heavyweights Wizkid, Asake, Burna Boy and Tems have secured major nominations for the 2026 edition of the BET Awards, further highlighting Nigeria’s growing dominance on the global entertainment stage.

Reports indicate that the nominations were officially unveiled on Tuesday ahead of the awards ceremony scheduled to take place on June 28, 2026, in Los Angeles, United States.

Wizkid and Asake earned a joint nomination in the Best Group category following the success of their collaborative efforts and a string of chart-topping releases that have continued to gain international recognition.

Tems emerged as one of Africa’s standout contenders after receiving three nominations, including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, the BET Her Award for her song “First,” and the Viewers’ Choice category for “Raindance,” her collaboration with Dave.

Burna Boy also secured a nomination in the Best Collaboration category for his contribution to “WGFT,” a track by Gunna featuring the Grammy-winning Nigerian star.

The latest nominations further reinforce the strong legacy Nigerian entertainers have built at the BET Awards over the years. Wizkid remains one of Africa’s most celebrated winners at the ceremony, while Burna Boy has consistently maintained a dominant presence in international categories.

Several Nigerian stars and personalities who have previously received recognition at the event include Davido, Tems, 2Baba, D’banj, Ice Prince and Ayra Starr, who won the Best International Act category in 2025.

Nigerian-linked talents also made appearances in the acting categories as Ayo Edebiri and Cynthia Erivo received nominations for Best Actress, while Damson Idris secured a nomination in the Best Actor category.

Other top international stars nominated across various categories include Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars, SZA, Chris Brown, Drake and Stephen Curry, among several others recognised for their achievements in music, film and sports.
