Ohagwu Takes Over As Ondo Police Commissioner

According to reports monitored by Ireporter Online, Ndukwe succeeds Adebowale Lawal, who served as the 46th Commissioner of Police in the state after assuming office in June 2025.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday in Akure by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who explained that the redeployment forms part of efforts by the police leadership to strengthen internal security and improve effective policing nationwide.

The statement described the new commissioner as a seasoned officer with extensive experience in crime prevention, intelligence-led policing, public safety management, and operational coordination.

Authorities noted that Ndukwe has served in several operational, investigative, and administrative positions across the country during his more than three decades in the police force, earning recognition for professionalism, discipline, dedication, and leadership.

Speaking after assuming office, the new police commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the existing security framework in Ondo State while prioritising the protection of lives and property.

He assured residents that the command under his leadership would intensify efforts against crime and criminality through proactive policing, intelligence gathering, community engagement, and strategic collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders.

Ndukwe also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information capable of preventing crimes and improving public safety across the state.
