According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian cleric Pastor Dolapo Lawal has weighed in on migration trends, wealth creation, and the economic realities faced by Nigerians relocating abroad.

Speaking in a viral sermon clip, Pastor Lawal said many Nigerians who move to countries such as the United Kingdom are not necessarily pursuing wealth, but rather seeking basic survival. He noted that a significant number of migrants end up taking up demanding jobs, including caregiving roles, to sustain themselves financially.

The cleric also frowned at the growing practice of individuals selling off assets in Nigeria to fund relocation abroad, describing the trend as misguided and likening it to what he called “modern-day slavery.”

He urged young Nigerians to rethink their perception of success and focus more on identifying opportunities within the country instead of believing that prosperity only exists overseas. According to him, several wealthy individuals he has encountered built their fortunes locally, insisting that Nigeria remains one of the easiest places for determined and well-connected individuals to become billionaires.

Pastor Lawal further advised that persistence, vision, and strategic relationships are key to achieving success, stressing that many people abroad struggle financially and are unable to send money home due to hardship rather than unwillingness.

He concluded that Nigerians should focus on leveraging available opportunities at home, maintaining that “this is the easiest place to become a billionaire” for those who are intentional and consistent in their efforts.
