Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has stirred widespread reactions on social media after condemning the growing trend of people sharing private conversations and emotional tributes only after someone’s death.

Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, the actress criticised individuals, particularly within the entertainment industry, who allegedly ignore messages, collaboration requests, and professional opportunities while a person is alive, only to flood social media with emotional posts after their passing.

According to reports, Etinosa expressed strong disapproval toward people who post unreplied direct messages or claim they had plans to work with deceased individuals despite showing little support when they were alive. She warned against anyone attempting to share her private messages after her death, stressing that such gestures often appear insincere and attention-seeking.

The actress further accused some movie producers and colleagues of neglecting actors during difficult times, only to publicly mourn them when tragedy strikes. She stated that many of the tributes seen online are not genuine reflections of friendship or support but are instead aimed at gaining sympathy and social media engagement.

Her comments surfaced amid conversations surrounding the reported death of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, which triggered an outpouring of tributes and screenshots of past conversations shared by celebrities and associates online.

Etinosa’s remarks have since generated mixed reactions across social media platforms, with many users agreeing that public mourning has increasingly become performative, while others argued that people grieve differently and should not be judged for expressing regret after a loss.
