Wike’s PDP Camp Unveils 2027 Presidential Candidate

According to reports, the announcement was made on Tuesday at the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza in Abuja, during the presentation of the presidential primary results by the PDP Presidential Primaries Collation Committee.

The exercise was presided over by former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, who chairs the committee. Ortom disclosed that extensive consultations were carried out with party members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory before the decision was reached.

It was gathered that Senator Onor emerged as the sole aspirant of the PDP faction aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, after purchasing his expression of interest and nomination forms earlier this month and formally declaring his ambition to contest the presidency in 2027.

Members of the collation committee stated that his emergence followed consultations and voice votes conducted among party stakeholders nationwide, culminating in a consensus endorsement.

Ortom subsequently presented Senator Onor as the faction’s presidential candidate for the forthcoming general election, describing the process as a reflection of the collective decision of members loyal to the bloc.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including National Commissioners Abdullahi Zuru and Prof. Rhoda Habor Gumus, were reportedly present to monitor the proceedings at the PDP national secretariat.

Following the declaration, the party leadership presented Senator Onor with a certificate of return and the party’s flag, formally affirming him as the faction’s presidential flagbearer for the 2027 election.
