Plateau K!ll!ngs: DSS Tells Court Suspect Confessed To Leading 100 Armed Men In Attacks

According to Ireporter Online, a prosecution witness has informed a Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos that one of the suspects standing trial over the Angwa Rukuba killings allegedly confessed to leading more than 100 armed men in coordinated attacks across several communities in the state.

The testimony was given on Friday during the accelerated hearing before Justice Danladi Longden by an operative of the Department of State Services (DSS), who detailed the alleged involvement of the defendant, Adamu Alhassan Isa, also known as Shagari Bangai, in a series of violent incidents.

Isa is among five defendants facing charges including criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, unlawful possession of firearms, and illegal dealing in arms and ammunition in connection with the Palm Sunday attack on Angwa Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area, where about 30 people were reportedly killed.

The DSS operative told the court that Isa made a confessional statement admitting participation in multiple attacks across Plateau State, including alleged assaults in Vom and several communities in Riyom Local Government Area, where he was said to have led over 100 armed men.

The witness further stated that investigators linked the defendant to a pattern of coordinated violence across the state and revealed that over ₦4 million suspected to be connected to terrorism financing was discovered in Isa’s bank account following his arrest. The prosecution said the funds form part of key evidence being relied upon in the ongoing trial.

The Plateau State Government had earlier filed charges against Isa alongside Isa Umar Ibrahim, Auwalu Abubakar (also known as Auwalu Dogo), Musa Abubakar Ibrahim (also called Yaroro), and Ado Ibrahim, who is currently at large.

During proceedings, defence counsel Mustapha Shaba requested certified true copies of statements made by the arresting and investigating officers to enable proper comparison with documents earlier provided by the prosecution. Following the application, Justice Longden adjourned the case until July 3, 2026, for compliance with the request and continuation of hearing.
