NDC Uploads Peter Obi’s Name To INEC Portal, Announces Date For Kwankwaso’s Submission

According to Ireporter Online, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced that it has successfully uploaded the name of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal, as part of ongoing preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The party’s National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, made this known in a statement on Monday, revealing that the NDC has also filed an appeal against a recent court judgment alongside an application for a stay of execution. He added that all relevant legal documents have been formally served on the INEC Chairman and the commission.

Dickson stated that the party had been granted access to the INEC portal to submit its list of candidates in line with the electoral timetable. According to him, both his name and that of the presidential candidate have already been uploaded, while the vice-presidential candidate’s details are expected to be completed after final documentation, with other candidates’ submissions ongoing.

He further explained that the party has until the 11th of next month to upload National Assembly candidates, while submissions for governorship and State House of Assembly aspirants will close on July 17, stressing that the timeline provides sufficient room for compliance.

The statement also noted that the party’s nomination process had been concluded through primaries conducted across the country, with candidates emerging for various positions under INEC supervision. Dickson emphasized that reconciliation efforts within the party had begun to address internal disagreements and ensure inclusivity ahead of the elections.

He congratulated all nominated candidates and urged members to remain united, describing the NDC as a party committed to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy. He also expressed appreciation to INEC for what he described as its professionalism, while urging continued neutrality and adherence to legal processes.

Dickson maintained that with the appeal already filed and served, the matter now rests with the judiciary, expressing confidence that due process would be followed in accordance with the law.
