EDO PDP AND THE ISSUES AROUND BOARD OF TRUSTEES- EDO SOUTH CRIES OUT.

You will recall that constitutionally, the tenures of the members of PDP Board of Trustees BOT, expired a fortnight ago and as customary, the Chairman of BOT sent a memo to the Zonal Chairmen for nominees from the zones and State Chairmen for nominees from the State.

THE ISSUES:

Edo State had 2 members in the Board of Trustees of the PDP, 1 from the Zone and the other from the State namely, Chief Tom Ikimi (Edo Central) who represents the South-South Zone and Chief Mike Oghiadomen (Edo North) who represents Edo State respectively at the PDP BOT.

ZONAL NOMINEE:

The Zonal Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih had responded to the memo for the Zonal nominees in the zone which are 5 slots comprising of Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Delta, Edo and Rivers States. His response was sent to all the Governors of the above-named states including Edo with nominees as follows:

Mrs Remi Kuku (Bayelsa)
H.E. Donald Duke (Cross Rivers)
Dr. Dame (Mrs) Esther Uduehi (Delta)
High Chief Raymond Dokpesi (Edo)
Chief Ferninard Alabrabra (Rivers)

EDO STATE NOMINEE:

Haven nominated the Zonal BOT slot for Edo State as High Chief Raymond Dokpesi from Edo North Senatorial District, it is expected that the State nominee should naturally come from either of the other Two Senatorial Districts i.e Edo South or Edo Central.

It is alleged that the State Chairman, Dr Anthony Aziegbemi on the instructions of the Governor, Godwin Obaseki later went ahead to submit as Edo State nominee H.E Mike Oghiadomen to the Leadership of the Board of Trustees.

The 2 tenures of both Chief Tom Ikimi and H.E. Mike Oghiadomen is said to have elapsed as both of them were nominated to the BOT during the Presidency of Goodluck Jonathan.

The question now is, how come Edo State now has 2 nominees into the BOT from Edo North? We understand that the State Chairman was duly advised of the Zonal Nominee by the Zonal Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih on the need to look towards other Senatorial District because he had already nominated High Chief Raymond Dokpesi from Edo North.

The State Chairman, Dr Anthony Aziegbemi should please tell Edo PDP people if it is true that he has duplicated Edo North with the State slot. He should also note that the last 2 nominees that just finished their tenures are from Edo Central and Edo North hence it is the turn of Edo South to produce the BOT member.

It is quite strange and unfortunate if the Governor will watch Edo South being short-changed and instruct the state Chairman to re-nominate H.E Mike Oghiadomen whose tenure has been completed and he is also from Edo North.
