Bandit Kingpin Ado Aleiro Suffers Major Loss As Son, 8 Relatives K!lled In Katsina Clash

Notorious bandit leader Ado Aleiro has reportedly suffered a major setback after his son, eight other family members and about 30 motorcycles linked to his network were lost during a recent encounter in Doma village, Katsina State.

According to Ireporter Online, intelligence reports dated August 9 indicated that the incident dealt a significant blow to Aleiro’s criminal network, which operates across parts of the North-West.

The report stated that about 30 motorcycles used by members of the group during the encounter failed to return, with the fighters reportedly operating them also said to have been killed.

Aleiro’s son and eight other members of his family were reportedly among those who lost their lives during the confrontation.

The loss of the motorcycles could further affect the group’s operations, as armed criminal networks in Katsina, Zamfara and neighbouring states frequently rely on motorcycles to move personnel and supplies through difficult terrain.

Security sources consequently believe the reported losses could weaken the group’s mobility and make it more difficult for surviving members to regroup or rapidly move between operational areas.

Following the encounter, intelligence sources reportedly observed Aleiro travelling alone on a motorcycle around the Sakya Dutse, Higi and Asaula areas at about 3:51pm on Sunday.

His movements were said to be under surveillance as security operatives worked to determine his destination and assess the condition of his remaining network.

The intelligence report also claimed that Aleiro had expressed concern over the security of a proposed illegal mining site at Gidan Buhari in Chadiya Ward, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

He was reportedly worried that the site could come under attack from a local vigilante group operating in Tsafe.

Security sources believe the reported losses could create an opportunity for intensified operations against Aleiro’s network and prevent surviving members from reorganising.

The development comes amid continued military and security operations targeting armed groups across Katsina, Zamfara and other parts of the North-West under Operation Fansan Yamma.
