2027: Peter Obi Explains Why He Attended Makinde’s APM Campaign Office Inauguration

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has explained his decision to attend the commissioning of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Presidential Campaign Office in Abuja.

According to Ireporter Online, Obi said his presence at the event was driven by his desire to promote national unity, love, justice, inclusion and mutual respect ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement personally signed by him on Tuesday, the former Anambra State governor said political differences should not overshadow the shared interest of Nigerians.

Obi disclosed that he attended the event alongside Oyo State Governor and APM presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, and Bauchi State Governor and APM National Leader, Bala Mohammed.

He urged political actors preparing for the 2027 elections to focus their campaigns on ideas and practical solutions capable of addressing the country’s major challenges.

According to him, political contests should not become unnecessarily divisive, stressing that the love for Nigeria must remain greater than political differences.

“We must insist that our shared love for our country should always be greater than our political differences. This is my call to all contestants in the forthcoming elections,” Obi said.

He called on politicians to compete on policies that could tackle insecurity, poverty, hunger, inequality and the rising number of out-of-school children.

Obi also advocated for political campaigns centred on uniting Nigerians, improving living conditions and restoring hope, while maintaining decency and respect among political opponents.

“Let our contest be about ideas and solutions that will address the enormous challenges facing our country today: insecurity, poverty, hunger, inequality, and the growing number of out-of-school children,” he said.

The NDC presidential candidate further congratulated Makinde, Bala Mohammed and other leaders and members of the APM on the commissioning of the party’s presidential campaign office.

He described the occasion as an important milestone and reiterated the need for political leaders to place national interest above partisan differences as the country moves towards the 2027 elections.
