JUST IN: Setback As Key Atiku’s North-East Campaigner Dumps Him For Tinubu (PHOTO)

Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, a former Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, has defected to the All Progressives Congress with thousands of his supporters.

Gwamna was a key campaigner for PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in the North-East, where he recently donated a campaign office to help Abubakar’s mandate be realized.

While speaking with journalists in Gombe on Friday, he announced his defection alongside thousands of his supporters.

Gwamna cited internal conflict, poor leadership, disregard for the rule of law within the party, and disunity as reasons for leaving the PDP.

According to him, the state PDP leadership mismanaged the party’s affairs, resulting in various factions within the party.

According to him, his political ideology is based on unity, inclusiveness, fairness, and justice, and “if those are not found in the party, there is no reason to be in that camp.”

Gwamna stated that the PDP cannot manage Gombe State with the current crop of leaders who prioritize personal interests over collective interests.

He added, “In politics, internal democracy is very key and if you cannot find that playing out, then practising democracy on a larger platform such as governing the state becomes a big issue.”

According to Gwamna, the APC is more organized in Gombe State than any other political party and has run its affairs in a more family-like manner.

He urged his supporters to mobilize grassroots support across the state to ensure that the APC retains the state by a wider margin than in 2019.
