Surely you’ve heard the phrase “all or nothing,” or “this or nothing”? These terms actually refer to accomplishing something totally or not at all, or in the second case, to when you are stating the only options or choices available.

What I’m trying to say is that as we go forward into the upcoming elections, we must keep in mind that elections are a game of numbers, thus there must be both good and bad people in any such arrangement.

Therefore, it is essential that we work so hard to choose the contenders who represent the best, and that we contribute in our own small way by making sure they receive our votes.

We’re back to the word: it’s either the best or nothing. Dennis Idahosa, the lawmaker representing Ovia Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, has demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt , and even to the consternation of his traducers, that he has performed exceptionally well.

In terms of any elective position occupied, Dennis has proven to be Ovia’s best ever representative. The people of Ovia have received assurances from him regarding his reliability and competence.

For example, there is no day that I do not take out time to pen down my views or opinions on the socio-political happenings across the country, and the day that I do not do that, I am incomplete; this is the same experience that a dedicated doctor has toward humanity, and the same way that a devoted artist would endeavour to hit the studios every day, regardless of the circumstances he or she finds themselves in.

This is what Dennis Idahosa does every day; if he does not meet with his people, supervise projects, consult with federal agencies, look into the plight of even the vulnerable, etc., it is as if something has been taken from him; as a public figure, these things come with a lot of burden; while I may just think of electricity and data to do what I have to do, or the artist goes into his inner studio to rehearse, it is quite different for Dennis.

Each of these actions puts him at risk by taxing him physically, financially, emotionally, sense of security, and in a variety of other ways. As a result, the majority of public figures build a barrier between themselves and the people they represent.
