According to Ireporter Online, veteran Nollywood actor Bob-Manuel Udokwu has spoken about the financial pressures faced by many actors in the film industry, despite their fame and popularity.

Speaking during an interview on Udala FM in Enugu, Udokwu noted that life is often more financially demanding for men than women, explaining that male actors in particular tend to shoulder heavier responsibilities. He emphasized that while Nollywood provides income, many practitioners are weighed down by bills and family obligations that significantly reduce what they earn.

The actor also reflected on the period before the death of his colleague, the late Mr Ibu, recalling the public reactions that followed news of his illness. He said many people questioned how the actor could require financial assistance for treatment, given his years in the industry.

Udokwu criticized such assumptions, stressing that the public often misunderstands the realities behind the entertainment profession and the personal burdens actors carry. He further revealed that he was unaware at the time of Mr Ibu’s passing that the late actor had more than one wife, suggesting that such family responsibilities may have added to his financial strain.
