According to Ireporter Online, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has announced new dates for its Ward and Local Government congresses following a suspension last week due to internal disagreements. The party stated that the Ward Congress is now scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, 2026, while the Local Government Congress will hold on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

The APC explained that the earlier suspension was intended to resolve internal friction within the state chapter. Party officials confirmed that the intervention has yielded positive results, restoring unity among stakeholders and paving the way for a smooth, rancour-free process.

The caucus also affirmed that the State Congress will take place as previously planned on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Party leaders expressed confidence that the upcoming congresses will strengthen party structures and consolidate unity across wards and local government areas in Abia.

The development comes amid ongoing speculation that Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, may be considering a move to the APC ahead of the 2027 governorship election to seek a second term. However, the governor’s media aides, Ferdinand Ekeoma and Dodoh Okafor, dismissed the reports, describing them as untrue.
