Afe Babalola’s Daughter Folashade Alli, Falana’s Wife, Human Rights Activist, Kayode Ajulo, Others Make SAN List (SEE FULL LIST)

Fifty-eight distinguished legal practitioners, including Folashade Alli, daughter of legal luminary Afe Babalola, have been conferred the esteemed title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC).

Chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, the LPPC officially ratified the appointment of these new SANs, which includes 57 legal practitioners and one academic.

According to a statement issued by Hajo Sarki-Bello, the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court and Secretary of the LPPC, these appointments were made in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the legal profession and their unwavering commitment to upholding the ethical standards of the field.

The statement also noted that the LPPC thoroughly examined four separate petitions against some of the candidates, ultimately dismissing them due to a lack of merit.

On Monday, November 27, the newly appointed Senior Advocates will be formally inaugurated at the Supreme Court complex by the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Among the notable appointees are human rights activist Kayode Ajulo, Funmi Falana, wife of Femi Falana, Felix Ota Offia, Lawrence Bankole Falade, Kingsley Obamogie, Abiola Isiaq Oyebanji, Bomo Olakunle Agbebi, Daniel Uruakpa, and Oseloka Godwin Osuigwe. Additionally, the list includes legal luminaries such as Babatunde Adeoye, Babaseyi Joseph, Emmanuel Moses Enoidem, Kehinde Olufemi Aina, Nghozi Oleh, Aaron Chile Okoroma, Ibrahim Angulu, and Olayiwola Afolabi, among others.

“The rank of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) is awarded as a mark of excellence to members of the legal profession who have distinguished themselves as advocates and academics,” Bello said.

“The meeting further considered four (4) different petitions written against some of the applicants and determined that each of petition lacked merit and thus dismissed.”
