All Eyes On Saliu Mustapha As APC National Congress Takes New Twist(see details)
The ongoing national congress of the All Progressive Congress, APC has suffered a slight hitch as the party’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), may have made an adjustment to the date for the Local Government and State Congresses which was scheduled to be held at the end of this month.
According to the CECPC there is the need to properly look into the conduct of the recently held ward congress and address the imbalance noticed in the conduct of the Congress, the report of the ward congress appeal committee which was inaugurated in Abuja yesterday would determine the new date to fix the local and state congress of the party.
The appeal committee was unfortunately behind schedule with five days which makes it imperative for a likely shift in the date for the local and state congress.
Already some heavy political gladiators have filed petitions against the conduct of the ward congress in some states across the federation. Some lamented bitterly of a hijack of the process while others complained of the usual disenfranchisement that is associated with such an intriguing contest.
The CECPC on the other hand has assured party members in ts resolve to adequately solve the impasse and pleaded with all members to treat it as a family affair.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Saliu Mustapha seems to be the cynosure of all eyes as the party prepares for the main event to usher in a new national chairman that would administer the affairs of the party for the next four years.
The aspiration of Saliu for the APC top seat is generating heated debates as most party stakeholders are looking forward to a new leadership laced with creative ideas in moving the party forward and consolidating its trust in Nigerians.
Alhaji Saliu Mustapha is from Kwara State and contested for the Governor of the state in 2019 under the All Progressive Congress. He’s seen as a bridge-builder who appeals to both the party elders and various other stakeholders, charismatic and urbane.
The APC would be looking forward to presenting fresh executives that would usher in a new set of leaders in all 36 states across the Federation. Political pundits have predicted that the kind of leadership that would emerge from the congress would have a great impact on the lives of Nigerians in general, according to their postulations political party leaders are responsible for the kind of administrations that they present to the general public as choices to be elected.
