Alleged Attack On Edo PDP Secretariat Sparks APC Controversy

Chris Nehikhare, the PDP Caretaker Committee’s Publicity Secretary, claimed that APC-linked thugs stormed the secretariat, causing widespread destruction and stealing valuable items, including electronics, computers, and office equipment worth millions of naira. He condemned the attack as a calculated effort by the APC to undermine the PDP’s ongoing campaign to reclaim its alleged stolen mandate from the September 21 governorship election.

Nehikhare stated, “It’s disheartening that the APC resorted to sending thugs to destroy our secretariat in a desperate attempt to stop our efforts to reclaim what was rightfully won by the people of Edo.” He questioned why the APC would resort to such tactics if it believed the election was legitimate and called for an investigation into the matter, urging security agencies to bring the attackers to justice.

Despite the violence, Nehikhare assured party members that the PDP would remain undeterred and continue to pursue legal avenues to regain its mandate.

In response, APC Publicity Secretary Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie dismissed the claims as unfounded and accused the PDP of internal disarray. He rejected the notion that APC members were involved in the attack, questioning the validity of the allegations and whether the attackers had any identifying APC insignia. Uwadiae-Igbinigie advised the PDP to address its internal issues instead of making baseless accusations and stated that the APC government was focused on delivering projects that the previous PDP administration had failed to complete.
