Amaechi In Political Oblivion, Has No Moral Right To Challenge Tinubu – APC Fires Back

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe at former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, over his recent comments suggesting that Nigerians should unite to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

According to Ireporter Online, the APC, through its spokesperson, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, described Amaechi’s statement as a “well-deserved contempt” and “political hallucination,” asserting that the former Minister has lost relevance both in his home state and at the national level.

Oladejo mocked Amaechi as a “political orphan” who has been disowned in Rivers State, questioning his credibility to spearhead any national mobilisation against the sitting president. He noted that Amaechi’s political influence has dwindled significantly since his defeat in the 2023 APC presidential primaries.

“Amaechi is free to dream, but he must stop mistaking his nightmares for national reality,” Oladejo stated, adding that the former governor has become a figure of ridicule in Rivers politics. He argued that Amaechi, having lost his political structure and followers, lacks the moral and political capacity to challenge President Tinubu’s leadership.

The APC spokesman further ridiculed the idea of Amaechi leading any form of mobilisation, asking rhetorically, “Mobilise who? The few loyalists left in his WhatsApp group? Politicians who deserted him after the primaries? Or the Rivers electorate who no longer take him seriously?”

Oladejo concluded that it was laughable for a man who had been rejected in his own state to claim he could rally Nigerians nationally, saying, “You cannot lead a national movement when your own backyard has padlocked the gate against you.”
