At least five young individuals in Rivers State have reportedly suffered from electrocution as they attempted to install a billboard using a metal frame.

Sources indicate that four others are currently in critical condition at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), where they were urgently taken for medical treatment.

This unfortunate incident took place within the Obiri-Ikwerre area of Rumuosi Community, situated in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

The victims were involved in erecting the billboard structure using a metal frame, which unexpectedly came into contact with a high-tension cable, causing it to conduct electrical current.

Tragically, the electric current led to the electrocution of five individuals, resulting in their fatalities.

Meanwhile, four additional individuals are fighting for their lives as they battle the severe effects of the shock. As of now, the local police have not issued an official statement concerning the incident.
