Yahaya Bello’s Aide Dumps APC For SDP
Hon. Abdulkarim Isah, also known as ECOMOG, who served as the Special Adviser to the Governor of Kogi State on Internal and Corporate Affairs, has tendered his resignation and joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP) as part of preparations for the upcoming November 11 gubernatorial election in the state.
Isah, who previously held the position of an elected local government chairman before being appointed as a special adviser, has made this move after a tenure within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His resignation letter, dated August 16, 2023, indicates that his motivation for engaging in politics was primarily to serve his constituents.
He expressed his assessment of his service to the people, stating, “So, the question is whether I have been able to fulfil this right of my people over me. I do not need to think twice before answering, hence the decision to move on to explore other avenues in the service and interest of that same people.”
In an official statement he released, Isah stressed the importance of progress for Kogi State and his reasoning for switching parties. He described the current state of the APC in Kogi as being in decline due to certain decisions made by Governor Yahaya Bello, which has led to the imposition of a particular candidate for the party. Isah asserted that the circumstances within the APC prompted his decision to align with the SDP, a political party that he believes will bring visible development to the people of Kogi.
It is evident that Isah’s move to the SDP is based on his commitment to the betterment of his constituents and his perspective on the political landscape in Kogi State.
