Vice President Kashim Shettima, alongside former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, is set to attend the second-term inauguration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in Anambra State. According to Ireporter Online, the ceremony will take place at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, with the Vice President representing President Bola Tinubu.

Soludo, who was re-elected on November 8, 2025, under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), secured a second mandate from the people of Anambra State. The inauguration is expected to draw a wide array of prominent Nigerians, including elder statesmen such as former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, as well as traditional rulers from all 179 communities in the state and monarchs from other regions.

Awka has already assumed a festive atmosphere, with residents and visitors flocking to the state capital in anticipation of the event. Streets across the city are alive with celebrations, reflecting Soludo’s commitment to consolidate his administration’s achievements and intensify efforts against insecurity.

Earlier, Soludo and his deputy concluded their first tenure with an interdenominational thanksgiving service at the International Convention Centre. At the service, the governor thanked God and the people of the state for their support over the past four years and pledged inclusive governance, promising that his administration would work for all residents, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation.

APGA has mobilized its members from all 326 political wards to attend the inauguration in large numbers. Security across the state has been significantly reinforced, with the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Federal Road Safety Corps deployed to strategic locations to ensure a smooth and safe ceremony.
