According to Ireporter Online, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu plans to replace Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speculations have circulated suggesting that Tinubu might select a new running mate for the APC’s 2027 primaries. However, Morka clarified in an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday that such claims did not originate from the party.

He emphasized that the APC currently prohibits political activities, explaining, “It was not coming from us. It was not something that we put out. Because first of all, I’m sure you understand that the prohibition on political activities is still in force.”

Morka further stated that the party has not engaged in discussions regarding its 2027 ticket, noting, “We have a serving president and a serving vice president today. So we have yet to activate our systems in accordance with INEC’s guidelines and regulations to engage that conversation.”

He added that recent media reports suggesting a possible replacement for the Vice President had “assumed a new dimension,” prompting the party to clarify that these were merely rumors. “Now we’re a political party, and so to make sure that Nigerians are not mistaking these rumors and speculations as emanating from our party, we had to make that clarification,” Morka said.
