APC New Media Campaign Council Denounces Vandalism Of Billboards In Benin City By Obaseki ‘s Agent
June 24, 2024 – Benin City, Edo State
The All Progressives Congress (APC) New Media Campaign Council has issued a forceful denunciation of the systematic defacement and destruction of APC billboards in Benin City. This wave of vandalism, notably including the recent incident at a billboard located between Temboga and Lucky Way off Upper Mission Extension, has been attributed to agents associated with Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Describing these acts as a “brazen attack on democracy and fair elections,” the APC council emphasizes the gravity of such actions. The council highlights that these billboards are not merely promotional materials but symbols of the democratic process, legally sanctioned and essential for a transparent electoral campaign.
In their statement, the APC points out that these malicious activities are not just an assault on their party but on the democratic principles of fairness and justice. The council’s director, Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah, asserts that these actions reflect a troubling pattern of behavior that disrespects the rule of law and the electorate’s right to make an informed choice.
The APC calls for an immediate halt to these undemocratic practices and urges Governor Obaseki and his associates to respect democratic values and the rule of law. They also appeal directly to the voters of Edo State, framing the destruction of their billboards as indicative of the PDP’s governance style—one characterized by fear, intimidation, and disregard for democratic norms.
In a rallying call to the electorate, the APC urges voters to reject the PDP in the upcoming September elections and support the APC’s vision for a transparent, progressive, and democratically sound future for Edo State.
This press release underscores the APC’s commitment to defending democratic processes and ensuring free and fair elections, appealing to voters to safeguard their democratic rights by rejecting undemocratic practices and supporting a party dedicated to genuine development and transparency.
