APC Wasted Two Years Doing Nothing – Labour Party Slams Tinubu-Led Govt”

The Labour Party (LP) has taken a swipe at the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government, asserting that it would have managed Nigeria’s economy far more effectively.

According to reports, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, made this remark during an interview with Vanguard in Abuja on Wednesday. He accused the APC government of achieving little to nothing in its two years in power, while accumulating unprecedented levels of debt.

Ifoh stated that the Nigerian people are now in the best position to judge whether their living conditions have improved or worsened under the current administration. He emphasized that the Labour Party had predicted the economic hardship, rising poverty, and downturn that citizens are now facing.

He said:

“Nigerians are now better positioned to understand what we warned about before the 2023 elections. We foresaw the economic hardship and poverty currently plaguing the country.

“Let the people compare their lives today to two years ago. How much is a bag of rice now? Are we safer on our roads and in our homes? What has happened to the purchasing power of ordinary Nigerians?”

Ifoh boldly claimed that a Labour Party government would have steered the nation’s economy more successfully and improved citizens’ quality of life.

He continued:

“The Naira, which once exchanged at N167 to the dollar, now trades at over N1,600. Petrol has jumped from N87 per litre to over N1,000. Inflation, which was around 40 percent, has crossed 42 percent.

“And what of youth unemployment and the rise in crime? It would be unfair to say this government did absolutely nothing—they’ve borrowed more than any previous administration. But the real question is: where is the value for all that debt?”
