Arewa Youths Demand Probe Into Amaechi, Bafarawa Over Alleged National Threat

The Reformed Arewa Youth Council of Nigeria (RAYCN) has filed a formal petition with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Department of State Services (DSS), accusing former Governors Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and Attahiru Bafarawa of Sokoto State of orchestrating plans to destabilize Nigeria…….READ MORE

In a statement signed by RAYCN’s national president, Bilal Abdulahi, the group claims that Amaechi and Bafarawa, along with their supporters, are planning to organize nationwide protests under the guise of expressing discontent over widespread hunger and economic hardship. However, the group alleges the true intention is to distract and undermine President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The Arewa youths further allege that Amaechi is financially backing Bafarawa, who is mobilizing resources to execute the protests.

“Amaechi and Bafarawa must be held accountable for attempting to incite unrest. Their actions pose a direct threat to national security and must be met with the full force of the law,” the petition stated.

The group emphasized that these alleged activities are not driven by national interest but by personal agendas aimed at plunging Nigeria into chaos for political leverage. They expressed concerns over the potential economic and security consequences, warning that such instability could deter investors, disrupt businesses, and heighten security risks.

“We urge security agencies to thoroughly investigate this plot. Their ongoing efforts to mobilize resources for these protests are no longer speculation but confirmed intelligence,” the group asserted.

Describing the alleged actions as “treasonous,” the Arewa Youth Council insisted that such plots should have no place in a democratic society.

“Treasonous activities should not be tolerated in any democratic system. Every nation has the right to protect its sovereignty, and Nigeria must enforce this,” the statement added.

The group praised President Tinubu’s efforts to tackle the nation’s economic challenges, attributing the current hardships to previous mismanagement by figures like Amaechi and Bafarawa. They highlighted Tinubu’s commitment to industrial growth, food security, and energy stability as key steps toward national progress.

Concluding their petition, the group reaffirmed its dedication to Nigeria’s unity and stability, calling on all patriotic citizens to support President Tinubu’s administration and reject any attempts to destabilize the nation.
