Army Strikes Back! 700,000 Litres Of Stolen Fuel Recovered, 29 Illegal Refineries Destroyed Across Niger Delta

The Nigerian Army’s 6th Division in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has successfully intercepted 700,000 litres of stolen fuel during recent operations. The division’s Public Relations Officer, Lt. Col. Danjuma Jonah, shared that the army conducted raids across Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Delta states from October 28 to November 3, 2024.……CONTINUE READING 

 

In these coordinated actions, 29 illegal refining sites were shut down, and 24 suspects were arrested, with 14 boats used for crude oil theft destroyed. In one instance, troops seized a large wooden boat carrying 150,000 litres of stolen crude in the Kula area of Akuku-Toru, Rivers State.

Additional seizures included:

  • 50,000 litres of crude oil and dismantling of three refining sites in Rivers State
  • 400,000 litres of refined diesel in Akuku-Toru LGA
  • 2,500 litres of crude from illegal sites in Bayelsa
  • 3,000 litres of refined diesel hidden in cars in Akwa Ibom

In Delta State, troops intercepted a tricycle carrying stolen iron pipes and raided a site with 40 jerricans of stolen product.

All suspects have been handed over to authorities for prosecution, while seized products are managed under military protocol.
