An autopsy has officially determined the cause of death of Destiny Boy, the rising Afrofuji musician whose passing in January sparked widespread concern and speculation. According to Ireporter Online, Destiny Boy died on January 17, 2026, under circumstances that prompted calls for a thorough investigation.

Following his death, videos circulated on social media showing what appeared to be the transportation of his body to a mortuary, fueling rumours about the circumstances of his passing. In an attempt to clarify, an unidentified associate later stated that the singer had been contending with a private health condition. “God, I want to do this video before people start saying rubbish about Destiny Boy’s cause of death. Destiny was nursing a health issue in his body before he died. We tried for him, but he didn’t make it,” the associate explained.

Two months after his death, the Police Homicide Section conducted an autopsy, which was released approximately a week ago. DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, a Police spokesperson, confirmed the report, revealing that toxicology tests detected harmful levels of tramadol, its metabolites, and methamphetamine in Destiny Boy’s system. The autopsy concluded that his death was caused by aspiration pneumonitis resulting from the ingestion of these substances.

The official statement reads: “The Consultant Anatomic Pathologist reported that toxicology results revealed harmful levels of tramadol and its metabolites, as well as methamphetamine, and opined that the cause of death was aspiration pneumonitis resulting from the ingestion of these toxic substances, with the date of death being 17/01/2026.”
