In an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Bannon declared that sidelining Musk has become a personal mission. “He won’t have a blue pass with full access to the White House. He’ll be like everyone else,” Bannon stated, emphasizing his intent to strip Musk of influence in Trump’s administration.

Bannon’s remarks come amid rising tensions within Trump’s camp, fueled by Musk’s support of the H-1B visa program, which allows U.S. companies to hire highly-skilled foreign workers. Critics, including Bannon, argue that the program displaces American workers, while Musk and his allies, like Vivek Ramaswamy, defend it as essential for sectors requiring specialized expertise.

Musk, who previously held an H-1B visa himself, has been tapped to co-lead the newly-formed Department of Government Efficiency alongside Ramaswamy. His financial contributions to Trump’s reelection campaign—over $270 million through his Super PAC, America—have earned him the nickname “First Buddy” for his close proximity to the president-elect.

Bannon, however, alleges Musk’s backing of the visa program is self-serving, benefiting his companies like Tesla and SpaceX by enabling the hiring of foreign talent. “He will do anything to protect his wealth and power. American workers will not stand for it,” Bannon asserted.

The feud between Musk and Bannon intensified last month when Musk supported a controversial online post criticizing American workers’ qualifications for high-skilled tech jobs. Musk also called for removing “hateful, unrepentant racists” from the Republican Party, prompting a fierce rebuttal from Bannon.

President-elect Trump, for his part, has expressed support for the H-1B program, telling the New York Post in December: “I’ve always been in favor of H-1B visas. It’s a great program.”

As the inauguration approaches, the clash between Trumpworld’s factions highlights deeper divisions within the GOP, with the role of tech industry figures like Musk and immigration policies at the center of the debate.
