Bauchi Opens Doors to the World: Gov Mohammed Appoints Chinese Expert as Economic Adviser

According to Ireporter Online, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has appointed Chinese national Li Zhensheng as Economic Adviser in a strategic move to attract foreign investment and strengthen international partnerships.

The announcement was made on Thursday during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bauchi State Government and the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre. Governor Mohammed explained that the partnership is designed to position Bauchi as an emerging hub for global collaboration, targeting key sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade facilitation.

The MoU outlines a framework for cooperation, with specific projects to be executed on a case-by-case basis. As part of the agreement, a Bauchi State Representative Office will be established in China to oversee project implementation and ensure timely delivery.

“This agreement is not just about infrastructure—it’s about transforming lives. We are opening Bauchi to the world,” the governor stated, noting that the initiative aligns with the diplomatic agenda of Presidents Xi Jinping and Bola Tinubu to strengthen bilateral relations at both national and state levels.

Governor Mohammed emphasised that the collaboration is expected to boost foreign direct investment, generate employment, enhance skills, modernise key sectors, and raise Bauchi’s international profile.

In his remarks, Zhensheng, who also serves as Chairman of the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, pledged the organisation’s dedication to mobilising global resources for Bauchi’s economic growth. “We are committed to helping Bauchi achieve sustainable growth, modern infrastructure, and improved livelihoods,” he said.
