Bishop Wale Oke: “Politics Needs the Righteous to Clean It Up”

The President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke, has called on Christians across the country to take active roles in politics, stressing that their involvement is essential for achieving genuine good governance.

Speaking in Ibadan at the 90th birthday celebration of Pastor Elijah Abina, the General Overseer of The Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT), Bishop Oke said politics would remain corrupt unless people with integrity entered the system.

“If clean people don’t participate, politics can’t be clean. We need to get inside — Christians are the salt of the earth,” Oke emphasized.

He described Pastor Abina as a shining example of godly leadership, praising his humility, simplicity, and Christlike character.

“Baba is saintly. He’s a true man of God. Even in old age, he continues to bear fruit,” Oke said.

The celebration drew tributes from several prominent religious leaders:

• Pastor Enoch Adeboye (RCCG) commended Abina for his extraordinary impact on both humanity and ministry.

• Dr Daniel Olukoya (represented by Pastor Paul Aderoju) hailed Abina’s long life as proof of divine grace.

• Bishop Richardson Oyediran of Salem Gospel Mission also honored the celebrant.

The PFN Chairman in Oyo State, Revd Samson Ajetomobi, described Abina as “a rare gift, tireless labourer in God’s vineyard, and a father in the faith.”

Other dignitaries in attendance included:

• Segun Olayiwola, Oyo State Commissioner for Science, Education and Technology

• Oluwafowokanmi Olufemi, Ibadan South West II lawmaker

• Oba Adedayo Akande, the Olusi of Usi Ekiti

• Rev Ebenezer Opeyemi, General Superintendent of Liberty Evangelical Church

The event not only celebrated a life of spiritual service but also echoed a clarion call for Christian participation in nation-building through politics.
