Blogger Apologises To Soludo Over Fake Reports About Him And Son

According to Ireporter Online, Ofoegbu, who is the publisher of Igbo Times Magazine and News, issued the apology in a statement titled “Public Apology and Full Retraction,” which was shared on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma.

In the statement, the blogger admitted that several publications attributed to Governor Soludo and his son were fabricated and lacked any form of verification or credible evidence.

Ofoegbu stated that the reports did not originate from Soludo, his son, their family members, or any official representatives, adding that the stories should never have been presented as factual news.

He specifically withdrew several viral claims, including allegations that Governor Soludo had disowned his son, statements allegedly made by Ozonna against his father, and other controversial posts involving the governor’s family.

The blogger also retracted a satirical publication suggesting that Governor Soludo had taken action against his son and another post that falsely claimed Ozonna challenged former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, to a drinking competition with his father.

According to the statement, Ofoegbu accepted full responsibility for the publications, acknowledging that the claims were false and should not have been circulated as genuine reports.

He further admitted to publishing misleading stories involving Governor Soludo and former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, including claims surrounding a possible electoral contest between both politicians.

The publisher revealed that some of the false publications were motivated by the desire to increase online engagement, attract readers, and generate financial returns.

He expressed regret over his actions, stating that gaining traffic and revenue could not justify spreading inaccurate information or damaging the reputation of individuals.

Ofoegbu tendered an apology to Governor Soludo, his family, associates, readers of his platforms, and residents of Anambra State, while pledging to be more responsible in his future publications.

He appealed to Governor Soludo for forgiveness and promised to take corrective measures to ensure that similar incidents do not occur again.
