Bode George: I’m Already At The Airport, Won’t Watch PDP Be Destroyed
A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has vowed not to stand by and watch the party collapse, affirming his readiness to attend the 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for today in Abuja.
Speaking ahead of what is expected to be a tense gathering due to sharp divisions within the party, George stressed that he would participate in the meeting irrespective of what it is labelled. According to him, it is crucial for party leaders to come together and openly discuss the future of the PDP.
“There’s no point in getting hung up on what it’s called — whether NEC, leg or head meeting,” he said. “What matters is that we will all be there, face one another and speak the truth without rancour.”
The PDP leader, who revealed that he was already at the airport en route to Abuja, underscored the urgency of resolving the internal crises rocking the party.
“I won’t sit here and watch people destroy the party that was handed over to us by the founding fathers. I believe today’s meeting is an opportunity for everyone to speak their mind. I am confident we’ll reach a decision that moves the party forward,” he stated.
His comments come amid reports that rival factions are also planning separate NEC and National Caucus meetings, raising fears of a potential showdown that could deepen the cracks within the PDP.
