BREAKING: Court Sacks Gov Candidate In Kogi
A Federal High Court in Abuja has ousted Musa Mubarak as the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) candidate for the Kogi State Governorship Election, slated for November 11, 2023.
The court’s decision was based on the finding that Mubarak’s nomination as the party’s gubernatorial candidate was unlawfully substituted.

Justice James Omotosho, presiding over the case, declared that Mubarak’s name was fraudulently submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the NNPP’s candidate for the governorship election.
Consequently, the court ordered the restoration of Hassan Abdullahi as the rightful flag bearer of the party. Abdullahi had legitimately won the primary of the NNPP on April 16, 2023, securing 303 votes, while Mubarak only obtained 10 votes.
The court ruled that the submission and publication of Mubarak’s name above Abdullahi’s to INEC were illegal, null, and void, having no legal effect whatsoever. In response, the court directed immediate publication of Abdullahi’s name as the party’s candidate.
Additionally, Justice Omotoso issued a perpetual injunction against the NNPP, INEC, and their representatives, restraining them from further depriving Abdullahi of the benefits and rights arising from his victory in the NNPP primary.
