IPMAN Announces Potential Reduction in Petrol Prices

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has shared plans to cut petrol prices by ₦50 per liter. This follows an agreement between IPMAN and Dangote Refinery, as confirmed by IPMAN National President Abubakar Maigandi in a recent Channels Television interview.

Maigandi explained that the Dangote Refinery has set new price templates at ₦940 per liter for depot purchases and ₦990 per liter for truck purchases for IPMAN members. With this update, members currently selling petrol between ₦1,150 and ₦1,200 per liter are expected to reduce prices by ₦50, depending on the location.

The price reduction offers a potential relief for Nigerian consumers, who have been struggling with fluctuating fuel prices.

IPMAN Ready to Lift Petrol from Dangote Refinery, New Price Announcement Expected Soon

Yakubu Suleiman, National Assistant Secretary of IPMAN, confirmed that the association is prepared to start lifting petrol directly from Dangote Refinery. He added that IPMAN seeks direct procurement from Dangote, avoiding middlemen.

Suleiman mentioned that ongoing discussions with Dangote Refinery aim to finalize pricing. By Wednesday, a new fuel price may be announced to the public. Suleiman noted that this partnership would help lower petrol prices, aligning with the association’s commitment to serving Nigeria better.

Activist Sowore Criticizes Oshiomhole’s Role in Fuel Price Increases

Omoyele Sowore, a Nigerian human rights activist, has criticized former Edo State governor and ex-president of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Adams Oshiomhole, claiming he collaborated with ex-military head Ibrahim Babangida to raise fuel prices in 1992. According to Sowore, Oshiomhole’s actions conflicted with his portrayal as a labor leader and contradicted genuine activism principles.
