According to reports, Mebude was rescued by the fire department after his vehicle collided with a tree. The 22-year-old player was subsequently transported to a hospital near Bruges via an ambulance.

A statement from Mebude’s club addressed the situation, stating, “The practice match between Knokke and KVO was canceled due to a car accident by player Dapo Mebude.

He was taken to the hospital, but there is no further information about his situation. Our thoughts are with Dapo and his family.”

Born in London to Nigerian parents, Mebude initially joined Glasgow Rangers in Scotland, where he honed his football skills in the club’s youth system and made his debut at an early age.

In 2021, he returned to England to join Championship side Watford but subsequently moved to Oostende in 2022.

Having participated in five top-flight games during the previous season as Oostende faced relegation, Mebude has represented Scotland up to the Under-21 level.
