President Tinubu Takes Swift Action: Suspends Minister Betta Edu Amid Financial Probe

Furthermore, the President has instructed the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to conduct a thorough investigation into all facets of financial transactions involving the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, as well as any affiliated agencies.
The suspended Minister is directed to transfer her responsibilities to the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. Additionally, she is urged by the President to fully cooperate with the investigating authorities during their inquiry.
In a proactive measure, President Tinubu has appointed a panel, led by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance. Among its responsibilities, the panel will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the financial architecture and framework of social investment programs. The objective is to decisively reform the relevant institutions and programs, aiming to eliminate any institutional weaknesses. This initiative is determined to exclusively benefit disadvantaged households and restore public confidence in the initiative.
These directives from the President are immediately effective.
